To complete a transaction, customers receive payment codes for specific convenience stores along with a confirmation number. Customers then bring the information to a convenience store to make a cash payment. You receive payment confirmation immediately after the store payment, and funds are available for *payout* (A payout is the transfer of funds to an external account, usually a bank account, in the form of a deposit) after 4 business days.

顧客は、日本全国のファミリーマート、ローソン、ミニストップ、セイコーマートで支払うことができます。
Payment method family: Vouchers
Usability: Single-use
Access type: Instant provisional access
Payment confirmation timing: Delayed
Settlement timing: Standard payout schedule

If you’re a sole proprietor, your website must also include a photo of the exterior of your physical store or office at the registered address.

### 返金

You can refund Konbini payments through the [Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/payments) or [Refunds API](https://docs.stripe.com/api/refunds/create.md). For detailed information about customer actions, refund statuses, failures, and testing, see [Refund Konbini payments](https://docs.stripe.com/payments/konbini/accept-a-payment.md?payment-ui=direct-api#refunds).

#### Refund process

Konbini payments are made with cash, so refunds can’t be returned to the original payment source. Instead, Stripe emails your customer to collect their bank account details, then issues the refund as a bank transfer. Your customer must respond to the email and provide their bank information before the refund can be processed.

#### Tracking refunds

To check a refund’s status, open the payment in the [Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/payments) and click **View details** on the refund entry. You can also [retrieve the Refund object](https://docs.stripe.com/api/refunds/retrieve.md) and check its `status` field.

Stripe notifies you of the final status through a `refund.updated` or `refund.failed` *webhook* (A webhook is a real-time push notification sent to your application as a JSON payload through HTTPS requests) event. [Verify webhook signatures](https://docs.stripe.com/webhooks.md#verify-events) to confirm that events came from Stripe. You can also use Stripe’s [public IP addresses](https://docs.stripe.com/ips.md) for network allowlisting. When a refund succeeds, the [Refund object](https://docs.stripe.com/api/refunds/object.md) status changes to `succeeded`. If the refund fails, the status changes to `failed` and Stripe returns the amount to your Stripe balance. You must refund the customer using another method.

### 不審請求の申請

Konbini doesn’t support the standard dispute process—customers can’t file chargebacks, and funds aren’t withdrawn from your Stripe balance because of a dispute. In rare cases, a convenience store might report an irregularity, such as payment mishandling. If this happens, Stripe contacts you with next steps.

1. Only supports send_invoice collection method.
### Hosted invoices

Customers can pay hosted invoices, including subscription invoices, with Konbini when the invoice or subscription uses `collection_method=send_invoice`. The customer must make a cash payment for each invoice. Konbini doesn’t support automatic charging or Checkout subscription mode.

## Connect

A Japanese platform can settle destination charges or separate charges and transfers on its own account using its own Konbini activation. In this case, don’t set `on_behalf_of`. The connected account doesn’t need to activate Konbini.

## Customer experience

#### 1. Select Konbini

The customer selects Konbini at checkout and provides their name and email address. They can optionally provide a phone number as their confirmation number.

#### 2. Receive payment instructions

Stripe displays payment codes, a confirmation number, and an expiration time for each supported convenience-store chain. The customer can view the instructions on desktop or mobile, or print them.

#### 3. Pay at a convenience store

Before the instructions expire, the customer presents the appropriate payment code and confirmation number at a supported convenience store in Japan and pays in cash.

#### 4. Payment complete

The store provides a receipt. Stripe confirms the payment asynchronously, changes the PaymentIntent status to `succeeded`, and notifies you so you can fulfill the order.

### Statement descriptors

Customers pay for Konbini payments in cash, so the payment doesn’t create an entry on their bank or card statement. Card-style dynamic and account-level statement descriptors don’t appear for the customer payment. Stripe displays a payment code and confirmation number in the payment instructions for each supported store chain. Retrieve these values from `PaymentIntent.next_action.konbini_display_details.stores.<store>.payment_code` and `.confirmation_number`.

These values are payment instructions, not post-payment transaction IDs.

## Enable Konbini

If you use Stripe front-end products, enable Konbini in your [payment method settings](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/payment_methods). Stripe automatically determines which payment methods are most relevant to each customer.

If your integration requires manually listing payment methods, you can [configure Konbini as an accepted payment method](https://docs.stripe.com/payments/konbini/accept-a-payment.md).
