# Set up NetSuite-initiated payments workflows

Learn how to set up NetSuite-initiated payments with the Stripe Connector for NetSuite.

> If you’re migrating from SuiteSync to Stripe Connector for NetSuite, use the [migration instructions](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/migration/configure-app.md).

## Before you begin

1. [Install](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/get-started.md) the SCN Stripe app and connect it to NetSuite.
2. [Configure](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/configure-app.md) the general settings and workflows in the SCN Stripe app.

## How to use this guide

1. Learn more about each workflow below and select which workflows fit your use case.
2. Set up and test with the instructions for each workflow you select.

### NetSuite-initiated payments overview

The Stripe Connector for NetSuite (SCN) lets you create [Charges](https://docs.stripe.com/api/charges.md) from NetSuite transactions with a variety of workflows. All of the workflows on this page have the ability to automatically apply payments to NetSuite transactions, and most of them do so by default. All of these workflows also use [Deposit automation](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/deposit-automation.md), the connector’s fully automated bank reconciliation workflow. [Learn more](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/stripe-charges-netsuite.md) about how we reconcile charges.

You can use all of the workflows on this page simultaneously, if applicable to different processes in your integration.

Go to **Stripe App** > **App Settings** > **General** to learn about (Always On) settings that apply to these workflows. A NetSuite customer record must exist before each of these workflows begins. Stripe customer matching or creation is automated.

Configurable **General** tab settings supported for all workflows on this page:

| General setting | Supported configurable options | Integration design notes | **Description** |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| General | NetSuite subsidiary ID | Control which subsidiaries use these workflows |
| Refunds | NetSuite-initiated refunds | Commonly used with all of the workflows on this page |
| Bank deposits | All options | Downstream of these workflows |
| Currency | All options | Required if NetSuite has Multiple currencies enabled |
| Record sync timing | Webhook events, Allowlist, Denylist | Allowlist metadata is added to charges in case the Allowlist feature is enabled |

## NetSuite Payment Pages workflows

Create payments in Stripe based on transactions and events that occur in NetSuite. [Charges](https://docs.stripe.com/api/charges.md) are then synchronized to NetSuite, represented as payment records and applied to transactions as appropriate. The [Refunds](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/stripe-refunds-netsuite.md), [Disputes](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/stripe-disputes-netsuite.md), and [Deposit Automation](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/deposit-automation.md) workflows complete the payment lifecycle in the Full SCN integration. A [limited free version](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/invoice-payment-link/overview.md) of the Invoice and Sales Order Payment Page is available.

## Workflows that create payments automatically

| Workflow | Description | Functionality | Complexity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **NetSuite Auto Pay for invoices and/or sales orders** | Commonly used with NetSuite billing, third-party billing, and e-commerce use cases. Automatically charges previously saved payment methods in Stripe for the balance due on NetSuite transactions. A saved search identifies transactions requiring payment. You control the timing and frequency of the search, as often as every 15 minutes. It requires the installation and configuration of the “Stripe Connector Add-ons” `SuiteBundle ID 502910`. | Advanced | Integrate systems (no-code) |

| Workflow | Description | Functionality | Complexity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Triggered Payments** | Manually or programmatically initiate payment through Stripe for NetSuite transactions using a script or workflow. Use it in complex billing scenarios requiring conditional logic or integrations with external systems. It requires the installation and configuration of the “Stripe Connector Add-ons” `SuiteBundle ID 502910`. | Advanced | Integrate systems (no-code) |

### Set up Auto Pay and Triggered Payments workflows

1. [Install](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/stripe-connector-add-ons.md) the Stripe Connector Add-ons bundle `ID 502910`.

4. Confirm that you’ve set up the **Required account mapping** section in the **Account Mapping** tab.
5. Confirm that you’ve set up the minimum required fields on the **Field Mapping** tab.

**Test the Auto Pay and Triggered Payments workflows**:

1. Follow the steps on the [Auto Pay instructions page](https://docs.stripe.com/use-stripe-apps/netsuite/auto-pay-setup.md) and deploy the script deployment in NetSuite. Make sure all of the customer matching and saved payment method requirements are fulfilled for the records you want to use in your test.
2. Create a NetSuite transaction that meets your saved search criteria. Make sure to copy any Stripe object IDs to the `Stripe Customer ID` or `Stripe Payment Method ID` fields in NetSuite, if applicable to your use case.
3. Use either the single event deployment or wait for the scheduled deployment.
4. Verify that the payment records were created correctly in Stripe and NetSuite.
5. Verify that the NetSuite sales order or invoice status and amount due fields change as expected, and that the payment record is appropriately related or applied.
6. If you receive an error, you’ll see a Stripe Add-on Error message in the `Memo` field of the sales order or invoice.
7. If needed, go to **Stripe** > **Add-ons** and use the Auto Pay success and failure saved searches.
