Select a region to see specific details. - **Status** - None No transactions - **Tax type** No general state sales tax (Montana) — supports resort taxes in some local jurisdictions - **Threshold** N/A (no state sales tax registration to add in Stripe) - **Included transactions** N/A for general sales tax. Resort taxes apply per local jurisdiction rules - **Registration resources** [Montana Department of Revenue (see local jurisdiction guidance)](https://mtrevenue.gov/) ## When to register for tax collection In Montana, Stripe Tax supports calculation and collection of Resort taxes. See [Needs attention](https://dashboard.stripe.com/tax/locations?primary_tab=needs_attention) tab to get insights about your potential tax registration obligations. Stripe also notifies you with email and Dashboard alerts when you need to register to collect tax. Learn more about how the [monitoring tool works](https://docs.stripe.com/tax/monitoring.md). ### Sales tax Montana doesn’t have a general state or local sales tax. This means you won’t see an option to add your registration for Montana to Stripe and collect taxes from your customers based in Montana. ### Other taxes We also support calculation and collection of resort taxes in many [Montana local jurisdictions](https://docs.stripe.com/tax/registering.md?registrationTypeRegion=united-states&state=MT#registration-types) as they pertain to participant and spectator based entertainment, amusement, and recreational activities. Stripe doesn’t include transactions for this tax in its threshold monitoring. ## Register to collect tax If you’re a remote seller, [Stripe can register with the local tax authorities](https://docs.stripe.com/tax/use-stripe-to-register.md) for you.
