Collect tax in France

Register to collect tax
Different registration schemes could apply to your business, depending on whether you’re based inside or outside the EU. After you’ve decided which registration scheme is correct for your business, learn how to register in France.
- Domestic VAT registration
- One-Stop Shop registration schemes (French content)
After you’ve registered to collect tax in France, go to Registrations to add your registrations to Stripe in the Dashboard. This turns on tax calculation and collection in Stripe for your transactions in France.

How we calculate taxes
France applies the EU VAT rules. Learn more about tax calculation in the European Union.
In France, certain territories fall outside the standard tax system and may have different tax rules. Stripe doesn’t calculate tax for customers in the following regions, even if you have a French tax registration. This applies to the following locations:
- French Guyana
- French Polynesia
- Guadalupe
- Martinique
- Mayotte
- New Caledonia
- Reunion
- Saint Barthélemy
- Saint Martin
- Saint Pierre and Miquelon
- Wallis and Futuna

Report and file your taxes
