# Manage custom objects in the Dashboard

View your object definitions, and view, search, and filter their records in the Stripe Dashboard.

You can see your custom objects in the [Stripe Dashboard](https://docs.stripe.com/dashboard/basics.md) under **More** > **Custom objects**. There are three views:

- **Definitions**: The object definitions in your account.
- **Records**: A list of the records for an object definition. Your primary and secondary fields render as the first columns. You can filter, sort, and search the list, choose which columns you display, and save views. You can’t sort by reference or array fields.
- **Record detail**: Every field of a single record.

The Dashboard is read-only at private preview. You can view your definitions, and view, search, and filter their records, but you create, update, and delete records with the API or your generated SDK (see [Create and manage records](https://docs.stripe.com/custom-objects/records.md)). To give your team a page where they can work with records, build a [full-page app](https://docs.stripe.com/custom-objects/apps-and-workflows.md).

## What the Dashboard shows

The Dashboard shows your records with these behaviors:

- Each object definition displays at its latest version. Fields that the latest version removed don’t display, although their data remains and older versions can still read and write it through the API.
- References show a display value for the referenced object, such as a customer’s name, an invoice’s number, or a custom object’s primary field. If a reference can’t be resolved, the Dashboard shows the referenced object’s ID.
- In list views, a field that holds several references shows the first one and the number of others, such as +2. Open the record to see all of them.
- New and changed records can take a few minutes to display in list views.
- **Contains** filters on string and reference fields need at least 3 characters.
