# Stablecoin payouts for Connect

Enable stablecoin payouts on your platform or marketplace.

> Stablecoin payouts are currently in [private preview](https://docs.stripe.com/release-phases.md) and only available to platforms based in the United States (US). To get access, [contact Stripe sales](https://stripe.com/use-cases/crypto#request-invite).

Stablecoin payouts let your *Connect* (Connect is Stripe's solution for multi-party businesses, such as marketplace or software platforms, to route payments between sellers, customers, and other recipients) platform make payouts in *stablecoins* (A cryptocurrency that's pegged to the value of a fiat currency or other asset in order to limit volatility), starting with USDC. Your platform balance stays in fiat currency, while Stripe handles conversion and payout.

## Onboarding

1. Make sure your Stripe account is set up as a [Connect platform](https://dashboard.stripe.com/connect).
1. [Request access](https://stripe.com/use-cases/crypto#request-invite) to the private preview.
1. After you hear back from us, which takes around two business days, request the feature through the [Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/stablecoin-payouts/overview).
1. Fill out the due diligence questionnaire on the [Account status page](https://dashboard.stripe.com/account/status) and complete the additional account requirements.
1. After we review and approve your information, you can start making stablecoin payouts. You can verify that stablecoins are supported for your platform by checking that **Crypto** is active in your [Payment methods settings](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/connect/payment_methods).

## How it works

After you opt in to stablecoin payouts and enable the [Express Dashboard](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/express-dashboard.md), your users can link a crypto wallet with their account and set their default currency to USDC.

After a user links a crypto wallet in the Express Dashboard, they immediately see a new USDC balance on their connected account. The USDC balance works like any other local currency balance. You can transfer funds into the balance and those funds are paid out to their linked crypto wallet instead of a bank account. When you create [Transfers](https://docs.stripe.com/api/transfers.md) in USD, they automatically convert to the recipients’ preferred currency.

## Limitations

Make sure stablecoin payouts support your use case before getting started.

- Currently only Connect platforms in the US can make stablecoin payouts.
- Stablecoin payouts can currently be sent only to individuals or sole proprietors in [supported countries](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/stablecoin-payouts.md#supported-countries). Payouts to companies and non-profits aren’t supported yet.
- Individuals must have access to the [Express Dashboard](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/express-dashboard.md).
- You must use the [Transfers API](https://docs.stripe.com/api/transfers.md) to pay out in stablecoins.

US platforms can make stablecoin payouts to individuals in these countries and regions (except the US states of New York and Hawaii):
