Platform tax reporting provides a way for you to collect verified tax information from your connected accounts. After they submit their tax information, you can use the Stripe Dashboard to review their information and then generate reports for the appropriate authorities.

## Key dates

Remember these important dates as you prepare to file your reports.

| Country / region | Deadline |
| --- | --- |
| Australia | January 31 and July 31 |
| Canada | January 31 |
| European Union | January 31 |
| United Kingdom | January 31 |

## Register with your tax authority

Before generating a report, you must register your platform with the appropriate tax authority, as recommended by your tax advisors. In some cases, generating a report requires registration information. For example, when generating a report in the UK, you must include the `Platform operator ID` that’s generated by the HMRC.

## Confirm your platform information

Verify the accuracy of your platform information, which Stripe requested from you, before filing. If you haven’t provided this information yet, contact your account manager.

## Obtain “Ready” status

Stripe [categorizes](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/platform-tax-reporting/dashboard.md#understand-the-filing-status) your sellers as follows:

- Won’t file
- Needs attention
- Ready

Stripe automatically identifies sellers if they exceed the per-region and per-category filing thresholds as `Ready` or `Needs attention`. You must obtain a `Ready` status before the seller can be included in a report.

Sellers in `Needs attention` status might have missing or malformatted information. You can provide missing information by updating the connected account from the [Connected accounts](https://dashboard.stripe.com/connect/accounts) page in your Dashboard or by [updating the seller](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/platform-tax-reporting/modify.md).

Forms with a status of `Will not file` are below threshold. When a form doesn’t meet the threshold, it’s not included in the report. You can file tax forms that are below the threshold by specifying [filing requirements](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/platform-tax-reporting/modify.md#seller-status) in a CSV import. You can also use filing requirements to omit a tax form from filing. There is no filing requirement override for missing or malformatted information (`Needs attention` sellers), since most tax authorities won’t allow an incomplete seller to be included in the report. Work with your tax advisor on the best next steps in this case.

## Generate your tax report

1. Review the information in your Dashboard to make sure it’s complete and accurate. Then, From the tax reporting view in the appropriate country or region, click **Generate Report** to automatically include all sellers that are in a `Ready` state into the report generation process. You’ll first be prompted for a series of confirmations about your platform and seller scope.

2. Confirm your platform information. To change any platform information, close the filing process and reach out to your account manager. If you file forms with incorrect platform information, you’ll be required to submit a correction.

3. Choose the type of report you’ll be submitting. The type of report might change the scope of sellers that are included in the report. There are two types of options that you can select:

   - **Report for new sellers**: create a report for sellers that haven’t been filed yet.
   - **Report that corrects previously filed sellers**: create correction report to update previously filed sellers.

Based on the reporting guidelines, new sellers and corrected sellers must be included in separate reports. You can’t submit both in the same report.

4. Finally, verify your report details, including the report type (New, Correction), the report period, and other information about the sellers in scope. Confirm everything looks correct before you click **Generate Report** to kick off the report generation process. The report, once generated, can be found in your tax reporting [history page](https://dashboard.stripe.com/connect/taxes/jobs?type=final_report).

## After the report generation process

> In Canada, we generate a unique reference ID for inclusion in the T619 of each Part XX report. However, reference IDs must remain unique across all other T619 submissions.

All sellers that were in your generated report now reflect an `Exported` status, and you can submit this report to the tax authority.

You can access the PDFs reflecting their seller information through the API after the report is marked `Filed` and the sellers’ status moves to `Filed`. For more information, see [Deliver tax statements](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/platform-tax-reporting/delivery.md).

## Reporting your status to Stripe

After you submit your report to the relevant tax authority, you might get feedback at either the report or seller level. For our system to stay up to date and reflect whether we need to include sellers as originals or corrections, make sure to pass on the tax authority filing feedback to Stripe.

Make sure to report seller level feedback before reporting report level feedback, because report level feedback updates the status of each seller that hasn’t been updated on an individual seller level. For report level feedback, [contact us](mailto:tax-reporting-status-feedback@stripe.com) with the following information:

- Identifier or XML file name (found within the download)
- Date
- Status of the report
  - Failed submission
  - Filed
  - Rejected

For seller level feedback, use the `seller_filing_status` field within the CSV schema with either:

- `failed_submission`
- `filed`
- `rejected`

You can only update this field if the seller was included in a generated report. After the status becomes `failed_submission` or `rejected`, it can’t be updated again until you resubmit this seller—although the `filed` status can be updated to `rejected`.
