Identity Document Additional VerificationsInvite only
Learn how to collect and verify government-issued identity documents from connected accounts.
The Document Additional Verifications API allows you to enforce the mandatory collection and verification of government-issued identity documents for account representatives on a connected account. Stripe identifies these requirements as currently_due or past_due until the user (connected account) satisfies the requirement.
Identity document verification
When you request a document additional verification, Stripe:
- Collects a government-issued photo ID from the account representative.
- Verifies that the document is authentic and hasn’t been tampered with.
- Extracts and validates information from the document.
- Optionally matches a selfie to the photo on the document (with
require_).matching_ selfie
Identity document verification helps with:
- Validating that your users are who they claim to be
- Reducing the risk of fraudulent accounts
- Meeting regulatory requirements in certain industries
- Protecting your platform and the connected account’s customers
