# Adds subscription pausing to the customer portal ## What’s new Customers can pause subscriptions in the [redesigned customer portal](https://docs.stripe.com/customer-management.md). To enable subscription pausing, set [features.subscription_pause.enabled](https://docs.stripe.com/api/customer_portal/configurations/create.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#create_portal_configuration-features-subscription_pause-enabled) to `true` in a [customer portal configuration](https://docs.stripe.com/api/customer_portal/configurations/create.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive). Set [features.subscription_pause.duration](https://docs.stripe.com/api/customer_portal/configurations/create.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#create_portal_configuration-features-subscription_pause-duration) to offer predefined pause durations. To direct a customer to the pause flow for a specific subscription, create a [customer portal session](https://docs.stripe.com/api/customer_portal/sessions/create.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive) with [flow_data.type](https://docs.stripe.com/api/customer_portal/sessions/create.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#create_portal_session-flow_data-type) set to `subscription_pause`. Pass the subscription ID in [flow_data.subscription_pause.subscription](https://docs.stripe.com/api/customer_portal/sessions/create.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#create_portal_session-flow_data-subscription_pause-subscription). ## Impact You can now give customers the ability to pause subscriptions in the customer portal. Existing customer portal integrations aren’t affected.
