# Adds alternative requirements to the Accounts v2 API

## What’s new

Adds an [alternatives](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#v2_account_object-requirements-alternatives) array to the [requirements](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#v2_account_object-requirements) and [future_requirements](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#v2_account_object-future_requirements) properties on the [Account](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive) object returned by the Accounts v2 API.

Each item in [alternatives](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#v2_account_object-requirements-alternatives) contains an [options](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#v2_account_object-requirements-alternatives-options) array that lists alternative ways to satisfy the requirements in [original_entries](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#v2_account_object-requirements-alternatives-original_entries). Complete any one option by providing every entry it requires.

For example, the following alternative provides two options for satisfying one original requirement. Other properties are omitted.

```json
{
  "requirements": {
    "entries": [
      { "description": "original_requirement", ...}
    ],
    "alternatives": [
      {
        "original_entries": [
          { "description": "original_requirement", ... }
        ],
        "options": [
          {
            "entries": [
              { "description": "requirement_a", ... },
              { "description": "requirement_b", ... }
            ]
          },
          {
            "entries": [
              { "description": "requirement_c", ... },
              { "description": "requirement_d", ... }
            ]
          }
        ]
      }
    ]
  }
}
```

To satisfy `original_requirement`, provide both `requirement_a` and `requirement_b`, or both `requirement_c` and `requirement_d`. Completing only `requirement_a` and `requirement_c` doesn’t satisfy either option.

Each option lists every entry required for that alternative verification path, including entries it shares with [original_entries](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#v2_account_object-requirements-alternatives-original_entries). You only need to provide a shared entry once.

The original requirement and its capability restrictions remain in [requirements.entries](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#v2_account_object-requirements-entries) until you provide it to Stripe or complete an available alternative.

## Impact

You can offer account holders alternative ways to satisfy onboarding requirements through the Accounts v2 API. Use [requirements.alternatives](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#v2_account_object-requirements-alternatives) and [future_requirements.alternatives](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-10-28.endive#v2_account_object-future_requirements-alternatives) to identify the available options for each v2 Account.
