# Updates Financial Address request and response structure

## What’s new

Replaces the country-specific [type](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/money-management/financial-addresses/create.md?api-version=2026-09-30.preview#v2_create_financial_addresses-type) values `gb_bank_account` and `us_bank_account` with a single `bank_account` value when creating a [v2 Financial Address](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/money-management/financial-addresses/create.md?api-version=2026-09-30.preview). A new [bank_account.currency](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/money-management/financial-addresses/create.md?api-version=2026-09-30.preview#v2_create_financial_addresses-bank_account-currency) parameter specifies the currency of the bank account to provision.

Previously, you indicated both the country and currency by passing a country-specific `type` such as `us_bank_account` or `gb_bank_account`. Now, pass `bank_account` as the `type` and include a `bank_account` hash with `currency` set to the desired currency (for example, `usd` or `gbp`).

## Why is this a breaking change?

The `gb_bank_account` and `us_bank_account` values for the `type` parameter on Financial Address creation are removed. Requests that pass either of these values return an error. Update your integration to pass `bank_account` as the `type` and include a `bank_account` hash with `currency`:

```
"type": "bank_account",
"bank_account": {
  "currency": "usd"
}
```

## Impact

The unified `bank_account` value for `type` simplifies Financial Address creation by removing the need to use a different `type` value for each country. As we add support for additional countries, you can use the same `type` value and specify the appropriate `bank_account.currency` without changing your integration logic.

If you currently create financial addresses with `type` set to `us_bank_account` or `gb_bank_account`, update those calls to use `bank_account` and add a `bank_account` hash with the corresponding `currency` value before upgrading to this API version.
