# Adds support for expanding the mandate on card payment method details

## What’s new

You can now expand the [payment_method_details.card.mandate](https://docs.stripe.com/api/charges/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive#charge_object-payment_method_details-card-mandate) property on the [Charge](https://docs.stripe.com/api/charges/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive#charge_object-payment_method_details) object. Previously, this property returned the mandate ID when present. Include `payment_method_details.card.mandate` in the [`expand[]` parameter](https://docs.stripe.com/expand.md) to retrieve the full [Mandate](https://docs.stripe.com/api/mandates/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive) object in the Charge response.

Without expansion, the property continues to return the mandate ID when present, or `null` otherwise.

## Impact

You can retrieve mandate details in the same request as the Charge for card payments with an associated mandate, avoiding a separate API call.
