# Sets canConfirm to false while updates are pending in Elements with Checkout Sessions

## What’s new

Updates [canConfirm](https://docs.stripe.com/js/custom_checkout/session_object#custom_checkout_session_object-canConfirm) to `false` while a Custom Checkout server update is queued or in progress. After all pending updates finish, `canConfirm` reflects whether the checkout is otherwise ready for confirmation. This provides a signal that integrations can use to avoid confirming with outdated information.

## Why is this a breaking change?

Elements with Checkout Sessions changes `canConfirm` to `false` while updates are pending, which could change behavior if you rely on `canConfirm` in your checkout flow. Previously, Stripe.js didn’t change `canConfirm` while server updates were pending.

## Impact

Your integration can prevent customers from confirming with outdated information by allowing confirmation only when `canConfirm` is `true`. Make sure that your integration handles the updated information when the pending requests resolve, and updates the state of your confirmation control when `canConfirm` changes. See [Submit the payment](https://docs.stripe.com/payments/accept-a-payment.md?payment-ui=elements&api-integration=checkout#submit-payment) for implementation examples.
