# Adds address validation errors for CMRAs and registered agents to Accounts v1 and Accounts v2

## What’s new

Adds two values to the [requirements.errors[].code](https://docs.stripe.com/api/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive#account_object-requirements-errors-code) and [future_requirements.errors[].code](https://docs.stripe.com/api/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive#account_object-future_requirements-errors-code) enum properties on v1 objects, and to the [requirements.entries[].errors[].code](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive#v2_account_object-requirements-entries-errors-code) and [future_requirements.entries[].errors[].code](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive#v2_account_object-future_requirements-entries-errors-code) enum properties on v2 Accounts:

- `invalid_address_cmra_address`: Returned when an account’s address is identified as a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA) or virtual mailbox address. To resolve this error, the account holder must update their address.
- `invalid_address_registered_agent_address`: Returned when an account’s address is identified as a registered agent address. To resolve this error, the account holder can update their address or upload a proof-of-address document.

For GA users, these new values provide more specific errors when we can’t accept an account address.

## Why is this a breaking change?

Integrations that read requirement error codes from Accounts v1 or Accounts v2 can now receive `invalid_address_cmra_address` and `invalid_address_registered_agent_address`. If your code uses strict enum matching or doesn’t handle unknown error codes, it can fail when it encounters these values.

## Impact

If your integration reads requirement errors from a v1 [Account](https://docs.stripe.com/api/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive), a v1 [Bank Account](https://docs.stripe.com/api/customer_bank_accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive), a v1 [Capability](https://docs.stripe.com/api/capabilities/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive), a v1 [Person](https://docs.stripe.com/api/persons/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive), or a [v2 Account](https://docs.stripe.com/api/v2/core/accounts/object.md?api-version=2026-09-30.endive), update its error-handling logic to support `invalid_address_cmra_address` and `invalid_address_registered_agent_address`. Review [address validation for commercial compliance](https://docs.stripe.com/issuing/commercial-compliance/address-validation.md) for integration guidance.
