# Endive

Endive cultivated for its slightly bitter, crisp leaves. Popular in European and Mediterranean cuisines, it comes in two main forms: curly (*Cichorium crispum*) with curly dark-green outer leaves, and escarole (*Cichorium latifolia*), which has broad, pale green leaves. Escarole is less bitter than other varieties and is often sautéed and used in soups and stews. Endive is commonly confused with chicory (*Cichorium intybus*)—also called Belgian endive, radicchio, or witloof—which is a different species of the same genus.

**Endive** is the fifth release in our [flora-named API versioning model](https://stripe.com/blog/introducing-stripes-new-api-release-process). As the first version in the Endive release, `2026-09-30.endive` introduces both breaking changes and new features. Subsequent Endive versions will include only additive changes. (Our prior releases were [Acacia](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/acacia.md), [Basil](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/basil.md), [Clover](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/clover.md), and [Dahlia](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/dahlia.md). Every time we introduce a breaking change version, we move to the next release.)

#### September 30, 2026

The September release of Endive includes these features and changes in our GA channel:

- **Updated payment method configuration for Checkout and Elements**: We [removed the `payment_method_types` parameter from Checkout Sessions](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/remove-payment-method-types-checkout-sessions.md) and [removed the `paymentMethodTypes` option from Elements](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/remove-elements-deferred-intent-payment-method-types.md). For Checkout, use [dynamic payment methods](https://docs.stripe.com/payments/payment-methods/dynamic-payment-methods.md), `allowed_payment_method_types`, or `excluded_payment_method_types` instead. For Elements, use `allowedPaymentMethodTypes` or manage payment methods from the Dashboard.
- **Thin events for API v1 resources**: Thin events are now [generally available for v1 API resources](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/thin-events-for-api-v1-resources-generally-available.md), making it easier to build forward-compatible webhook integrations with lightweight, version-independent event payloads.
- **New payment method support**: We added support for [SeQura](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/sequra-payments.md), a buy now, pay later payment method in Spain. We also now [save Bancontact payment details](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/bancontact-off-session-payments-checkout.md) in Checkout for future off-session SEPA Direct Debit payments.
- **Billing improvements**: You can now view [proration details for classic billing mode Invoice Items](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/invoice-items-proration-details.md), inspect [invoicing rules on Invoice Items](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/invoicing-rules-for-invoice-items.md) to see when items are eligible to be included on an invoice, and access [uncollectible status details](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/invoice-uncollectible-status-detail.md) on the Invoice object to understand why an invoice was marked uncollectible.
- **Payment Record on Payment Intents**: We added the [Payment Record property to the Payment Intent object](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/payment-records-on-payment-intents.md), letting you retrieve the associated Payment Record directly from a Payment Intent without a separate lookup.
- **Errors for eventually due Connect requirements**: The Accounts, Persons, and Capabilities APIs now [show errors for eventually due requirements](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/shows-errors-for-eventually-due-requirements.md). Previously, these APIs only included errors for requirements that were currently due or past due.

- **Payment Intent configuration on Checkout Sessions**: When using [Elements with Checkout Sessions](https://docs.stripe.com/payments/accept-a-payment.md?payment-ui=elements&api-integration=checkout) in payment mode, you can now [update Payment Intent configuration](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/update-payment-intent-data-on-checkout-sessions.md) on an active session after creation, giving you more flexibility to adjust payment settings before your customer completes checkout.
- **API evidence submission for eligible dispute appeals**: You can now [submit evidence through the API to appeal an eligible dispute decision](https://docs.stripe.com/changelog/endive/2026-09-30/submit-evidence-to-appeal-dispute-decision.md), complementing the existing Dashboard workflow.
