# Billed until property on subscription items is no longer included in responses by default

## What’s new

You must now [expand](https://docs.stripe.com/expand.md#includable-properties) the [billed_until](https://docs.stripe.com/api/subscriptions/object.md?api-version=2026-05-27.preview#subscription_object-items-data-billed_until) property on subscription items if you want to include it in the response. This makes subscription API methods more performant in cases where it isn’t requested.

## Why is this a breaking change?

If your integration references the `billed_until` property on subscription items, you now need to expand it in your request to include it in the response. Previously, it was included by default.

## Impact

Requests that don’t need `billed_until` execute quicker. This is most notable on API methods that can return multiple subscriptions in one request, such as [list](https://docs.stripe.com/api/subscriptions/list.md?api-version=2026-05-27.preview).

For requests that do need `billed_until`, [expand](https://docs.stripe.com/expand.md#includable-properties) the property in your request.
