# Cancel a 3DS Authentication

This endpoint cancels a 3DS Authentication. You can cancel a 3DS Authentication object when it’s in a non-final status: `requires_submission` or `requires_challenge`.

## Parameters

- `id` (string, required)
  Unique identifier for the object.

- `metadata` (map, optional)
  Set of [key-value pairs](https://docs.stripe.com/api/metadata.md) that you can attach to an object. This can be useful for storing additional information about the object in a structured format. Individual keys can be unset by posting an empty value to them. All keys can be unset by posting an empty value to `metadata`.

## Returns

Returns a 3DS Authentication object if the cancellation succeeds. Returns an error if the 3DS Authentication isn’t in a cancelable state.
