# Reserves

Reserves hold a portion of an account’s funds to cover future refunds and disputes and reduce loss exposure. Stripe can place reserves on any account. If your platform is responsible for negative balances on its connected accounts, you can also set reserves on those accounts in the Dashboard with Radar’s [account fraud prevention](https://docs.stripe.com/radar/account-fraud-prevention.md) tools, available on [Radar Plus and Radar Pro](https://docs.stripe.com/radar/how-radar-works.md#account-risk-prevention). Using the API to manage reserves on connected accounts is in preview. Learn more about [setting reserves on your connected accounts](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/connected-account-reserves.md).

Using a [preview API version](https://docs.stripe.com/api/versioning.md), any account can retrieve and list the reserves on its own balance, including reserves placed by Stripe or by its platform. To work with reserves on a connected account, include a `Stripe-Account` header with the connected account ID.
